After last week’s uncharacteristic refusal by Daniel to go into school, we have finally reached (we think) and end of the matter – for the time being at least. After his teacher had disciplined those involved, and had spoken to the whole class, Daniel was reassured that he was being protected, and school life could go back to normal. He’s back to enjoying the time he has there with his small circle of friends.

What did strike me about the whole affair was the bond he has developed with his current teacher, a bond he never really completed with his Primary 1 teacher. I’m not saying she wasn’t a good teacher – far from it – as Daniel came on leaps and bounds academically in Primary 1. She certainly knew her stuff, and how to get it all across to the children in her class. But as time went on…
